Buahrangers Revetment: Poety and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. Pahl and friends

I’ve been short and I’ve stood tall
I’ve had “foot-in-mouth”; I’ve had a ball
I’ve been high and dry and soaking wet
But I haven’t yet served for the set.

I’ve walked the walk, marched to the tune
I’ve had my time and it’s none too soon
I’ve floated free and been bound by fate
But I’ve yet to reach the pearly gate.

I’ve been down and out; I’ve dodged the cracks
I’ve experienced bliss, been to hell ‘n’ back
I’ve opened doors and shut the gates
But I have yet to meet my fate.

When all is said and done, my friends
I’ve had a damn fine life and when
I finally sail from this life’s shore
I’ll shout the bar and yell “Encore!”
