Buahrangers Revetment: Poety and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. Pahl and friends

Is it an angry tone I read and sense in your verse,
or perhaps a question to comprehend the motives of another?
Though I responded to my friend with greater detail than required,
I did so in the hope that, perhaps, heartsease may result
both in understanding motive and, perchance, a change of mind.

Neither the asker nor the responder expounded any ill feelings;
And no ill feelings should be engendered by such points of view.
Having been seared before, by considered “honourable” men,
the asker formed his hearts duty and, to his great honour,
has lived and adhered to that duty, that honour, that decision.

Please do not deride the honour expounded by another;
it may not be in view to thee, but it is such to the proponent.
Allow his questions to be clearly answered without anger;
for in the response, do we not more clearly hear the question?

Let there be an end to this matter;
for there is no cause for consequence
among new, forming and honourable friendships.
