Anthony W. Pahl: Bushranger's Revetment - Poetry and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. (Bushranger) Pahl and friends

I’m still able to walk
able to fire an M60 from a moving chopper
(I know because I do it almost every night)
I can still operate the winch
(I can’t forget)
and I am prepared to both learn and teach.

I am ready…
… but they don’t want me!

Why?

My life is nearly done…
The kids haven’t yet begun theirs

Take me instead…
Please!

I’ll only ever be half way home…
