Buahrangers Revetment: Poety and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. Pahl and friends

Been married to my wife
For fifty-three years of my life;
Never had an extramarital affair,
But if I ever did, it would be
With an aeroplane up in the air!
Love to fly high up in the sky;
look down below as sites go by;
Pull the stick back into my gut,
Kick left rudder, start winding down
Watching Mother Earth go round and round.
Down, down she turns and turns
Bound for certain spot on Earth;
Kick right rudder, feel her shudder;
Stops the churning and turning,
Yet in a vertical dive she is!
Shove the stick forward
Then back into my gut;
Out of the dive she flies.
This is an extramarital affair
I’m having high up in the air!
Land her softly on the ground.
Taxi gently to her tie down;
Listen to her engine purr
Like a new-born kitten
As I turn off the ignition.
Romance is over for today,
Adrenaline slowly tucked away.
Gravity now pulls me down
Since that shiny plane
Sits silently on the ground!
