Buahrangers Revetment: Poety and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. Pahl and friends

Listen…

Listen…

Listen and maybe you will hear
the pulsating throb of parting’s fear
The cape of sadness that I wear
is heavier than my heart can bear.

Three joyful days, and all was well;
Into easy friendship we both fell.
With laughter, care and honour’s call
our youth returned with time forestalled.

And still, despite my heavy heart
and the sadness of our miles apart,
I feel that joy in the truth we found
as we walked upon that virgin ground.

But tearful parting is the only way
that reunion can come again one day.
And though separation is very sad
love, not distance, is what we have.
