Buahrangers Revetment: Poety and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. Pahl and friends

… a sudden explosive gust of wind
the door slams!

The handle - is there a handle…?
… where is the handle?
the lock - the key…
What is the key…?

The tempest seals the door
and blackness wraps the light in its shroud
… a heart struggles against the threads of icy force
to find a hope… to lighten the power
of that which is… and must not be!

The door opens inwards…
and the wind is from the outside
Why can’t I open the door…?
Give me the key!

I seek shelter in an old cave
… with bones and dreams
of yesterday

Keys are not required… or wanted!
