Buahrangers Revetment: Poety and Stories by Vietnam Veteran, Anthony W. Pahl and friends

Lord, send a special blessing
Upon my precious friend.
I ask you to protect him
And help his heart to mend.

He needs to feel your strength
Into the depths of his tired mind.
The confusion is overwhelming
With no peace for him to find.

He’s weighted down with burdens
That he’s carried many years.
At times he feels so lost inside
He can’t see you through his tears.

I come to you oh God Almighty
Representing my precious friend.
I beg and plead your mercy
And to let this nightmare end.

Just for a little while Lord
Do you think you could carry him?
Long enough that he can feel
Your presence so deep within.

I know that war was hell on earth
I can’t conceive what it was like in that place.
But I come to you upon my knees
As I ask for your saving grace.

You know the hearts of all involved
In Nam that day by the tree.
My precious friend is innocent
So let justice set him free.

The freedom that he fought for
As he struggled to stay alive.
Is the blessing that I ask for him
Set him free from torments and strife.

I know that you can do it
You’ve got the whole world in your hands.
And I thank you for your blessing Lord
As you help one special man...

Amen
